A new festival is coming to Steinbach this summer, and it’ll be the most colourful the Southeast has ever seen.

IRAL Colour Fest will be taking place at Steinbach’s A.D. Penner Park on Friday, July 8th.

IRAL stands for International Reggae Afro Latin. The festival is being put on by Nevillle Hamilton, a local musician, and one of the owners of Di Reggae Grill.

Hamiton says that as this past winter dragged on, he couldn’t wait to get out in the warm summer sun and see and interact with people here in Steinbach – and that was when he began to plan the community’s first Colour Fest.

In addition to there being a lot of colour in the air, the festival will also include music, DJs, live entertainment, dancing, beach volleyball, and a family fun field day with competitions throughout the park. Some challenges will incorporate bicycles or the zipline – there will even be a Jeopardy challenge. As each challenge takes place, colours will be thrown and music played.

“It's going to be a day of just total fun for everyone!” assures Hamilton. “You can get a group of friends; you can enter a group of six. We’ll just have a blast around that, and you can win prizes like a night for four at the Days Inn and a few rounds of golf. You have to go check it out, a lot of prizes here to be won!”

The IRAL Colour Fest at A.D. Penner Park on July 8th is gearing up to be a community celebration with colour-infused family-friendly activities for all.

“Take your friends, your grandma, your kids, everybody – and come and have a fun time!” enthuses Hamilton. “There will be food. There will be booths for arts and crafts and whatever you want to pick up. There will be expressions of dance. This is a cultural event and everybody is invited!”
