The provincial government continues to have discussions as to what their phase three reopening plan could look like.

MLA Kelvin Goertzen says one consideration is loosening regional travel restrictions to areas that are similarly low in COVID-19 cases.

“We’ve seen that more recently where all of our cases have been coming in from other places,” explains Goertzen, “so the medical folks are really watching that.”

Goertzen admits that not being able to leave the province has left him frustrated and wanting for any kind of travel.

“I never thought in my lifetime I’d be as excited to go to Saskatchewan as I am,” shares Goertzen. I’d be fired up to go to Regina, and it's not even Labour Day.”

The MLA also alludes to discussions involving houses of worship and wonders just how that would affect certain traditions.

“You learn about the different sacraments and different ways that people do faith, and some are very invested in food and meals after a service as a very regular thing,” says Goertzen before asking, “how does that work in a potential reopening?”

The issue is a personal one for Goertzen as he also practices his faith in a house of worship. “I’m taking off my MLA hat, I’m taking off my member of government hat,” offers Goertzen “it actually gets me every week that I can’t go to church.”
