Toys Days wrapped up Thursday night at Superstore and Canadian Tire in Steinbach. Hundreds and hundreds of people donated gifts to Community Christmas to make sure that all children in need will receive a present for Christmas. Hank Klassen of Southeast Helping Hands says the response was huge.

"It's just been fantastic. It's better this year than last year and last year we thought we had a good load. This year it's better yet."

Klassen says it was heartwarming to see so many young people accompanying their parents to donate gifts, fully aware of the need that exists.

"We've been working for a long time at the schools and almost preaching that, if you give when you're younger, you'll keep giving as you get older. You can see the fruits of our effort now."

Klassen says, even though Toys Days is over, they will continue to accept donations of toys and money. Items can be dropped off at Sobeys, at the offices of AM 1250/MIX 96/Country 107/steinbachonline.com or at the food bank.

He sends out a huge thank-you to all the people who are supporting Community Christmas.
