Hanover trustees report there's not enough time to revise ward boundaries before the deadline, which is in 10 days.

Prior to elections, ward boundaries are reviewed and adjusted to reflect a similar number of voters in each ward.

This happens at all levels of government, including school division ward boundaries.

This year, there is an indication that boundaries need to be adjusted in the Hanover School Division in preparation for the fall election.

Board chair Ron Falk says it is a lot of work and they can’t get it done by the March 15th deadline.

After collecting the updated information from each of the communities and rural municipalities, there was still a lot of uncertainty surrounding the future of school boards due to Bill C-64.

Falk says it was difficult to know how to proceed when there were still so many unanswered questions and there was a lot of doubt whether school trustees would be elected.

Now that they know the election will go ahead as per usual, he says there is not enough time to make the required revisions.

There are many growing communities within the school division boundaries and some areas that did not see as much growth.

This means a few boundaries need to be adjusted to meet the requirement.
