The well-used Hanover School Division wall calendar will cease to exist this coming fall.

After three decades of distributing up to 9,300 calendars per year, Assistant Superintendent Shelley Amos says the division has stopped printing them.

“It’s not disappearing, but it is morphing into something different,” explains Amos, “instead of the traditional 12-month calendar, we will be printing a one-pager with specific information and pertinent dates, as well as enhancing our online calendar.”

This shift will save the division roughly $12,500 per year. However, Amos says this financial gain was not the impetus for the move.

“This has been a decision in the works for a while,” she notes, “I think it speaks to advances in technology and how parents and guardians are accessing information in this day and age.”

While many people still rely on physical calendars for marking up and hanging in their office, Amos says many more are turning online. She feels this change will do just fine at catering to the division’s needs.
