A graduating high school student at École communautaire Réal-Bérard is getting a lot of praise from St. Pierre Village Council.

Janique Lariviere is wrapping up her time as a junior council member this month.

Mayor Raymond Maynard says she has done a great job in bridging the gap between the generations, both at school and on council.

“It gives us the perspective of the young generation and it helps us to find out what they're looking for, what they'd like to see in town,” Maynard says. “Janique has been an inspiration to us. She's always trying to get us involved and she is getting us involved in different things like bringing students to the office to show them what it is that the village does.”

She has contributed greatly with planning events that teach young people about municipal government and providing council with valuable insight into the life of todays youth.

“I think having a junior councillor is probably one of the greatest things we ever did for council,” Maynard says.

He hopes there will always be a junior member on council for St. Pierre.
