If you are a kid in New Bothwell, and you enjoy playing, then you will probably be interested in what just went up in your community.

Travis Doerksen is the New Bothwell area Councillor for the Rural Municipality of Hanover. He says a play structure has just gone up in the pocket park along Fernwood Way. Doerksen explains the New Bothwell Chamber of Commerce purchased the equipment about three years ago. But, he says the Chamber alone was not able to get the play structure off the ground. One of the owners of Cobblestone Homes offered their assistance, and with the help of Accurate HD, the play structure is now ready for use.

"Personally, it makes me very proud to say that I'm from the New Bothwell area," says Doerksen, after sharing the story. "That we can have these types of people, community-minded people, and those are the companies that work in our area, invest in our area, develop in our area."

The pocket park is also home to a soccer pitch, a baseball diamond and swings.

"It just adds some entertainment value for the kids and we're really excited to have it here," says Doerksen.

Doerksen says the play structure is soundly built, noting it must be inspected on an annual basis. He says it is on piers, with a proper border and fill material inside.

"We're excited that it was done right and that this can be here for a very, very long time," adds Doerksen.

The play structure has only been up for about one week, but the New Bothwell Councillor says it is already getting some early use.

"I've driven by a few times and seen a few kids hanging on the play structure and playing in here," says Doerksen. "It's really exciting to see that it's going to get a lot of great use and just I'm excited for the kids in the area that they get an addition to our pocket park here on Fernwood Way and just excited to see everybody enjoying it."
