This “Jesus Loves Me” Hymn Medley video showcases Rosemary Siemens and the incredibly talented Pacific Mennonite Children’s Choir, a 60-voice children’s choir from Abbotsford, BC.

“I grew up singing in the Winnipeg Mennonite Children’s Choir under the direction of Helen Litz and it had a profound impact on my life, not only musically but spiritually as well,” says Rosemary Siemens. “I was thrilled to collaborate with the Pacific Mennonite Children’s Choir for my version of “Jesus Loves Me” for my Sunday Hymn Serenade show on YouTube.

The Creative Process:

The decision to undertake this project was made together with Sonja Hindmarsh, the artistic director for the Pacific Mennonite Children’s Choir (PMCC). We wanted to create something truly special, so we brought in my video team from Manitoba (Steve Hiebert and Nathan Knight). I wanted to do a peaceful hymn medley because I knew it would be perfect fit for the peaceful quality of the children’s voices and I knew I wanted to do very familiar hymns so that it would bring back memories for the viewers. Careful thought went into selecting the hymns and crafting the arrangement for the “Jesus Loves Me” medley featuring the hymns “Jesus Loves Me”, “Jesus Loves Even Me”, and “And Can It Be That I Should Gain (Amazing Love)”. My talented husband and producer, Eli Bennett, recorded my parts on piano, violin, and vocals at our own studio and we then traveled to Abbotsford, BC, where we collaborated with Philip Janz to capture the angelic voices of the choir.

Creating the Visuals:

Once we had recorded the song, we turned our attention to the visual aspect of the project. Sonja and Janelle Stauffer (the choir’s choreographer), scouted a breathtaking location at Heronsbridge in Abbotsford and devised a captivating storyline and choreography to complement the music. The day of the video shoot was so much fun! You can see some behind the scenes video of the process here:

A Symphony Unveiled:

Once everything was recorded and filmed, Eli and I meticulously added the orchestral elements (string orchestra, bells, percussion, B3 and pipe organ), and we are so happy with the result!

It's a testament to the dedication and hard work of everyone involved, from the talented choir members, to the skilled video production team, to the conductor, the choreographer, the choir manager, all of the volunteers, and Eli producing. I'm immensely grateful to each and every person who contributed their time, talent, and passion to bring this project to life.

In the first two days the video has already been seen by over 245,000 people on YouTube and we have received comments like:

“There are no words to describe how sweet and touching this children’s video is, what a blessing to watch and hear!!”

“I have no adequate words to say thank you enough for such a majestic beauty in music style, choice of these marvelous songs that fill up the heart and soul all the way up to heaven! This is real Christian music, keep up the sweet and good work Rosemary! God bless you tremendously!”
