They are gearing up for harvest on at least one operation in the southeast.  Kevin Peters from Herbsigwil Farms south of Randolph says they are about a week or 2 ahead of schedule and that has created a lot of excitement around the farm.  Normally, harvest starts the last few days in July so this is a week or more early.  They have sprayed down their winter wheat and expect to be combining by early next week.  Heads have filled out okay and he hopes to see about 60 bushels per acre.  Canola will be the next crop on their harvest schedule.  It's also doing okay, but right now, a good rain is really needed  to help the pods fill in a bit more.
