The R.M. of Hanover is getting a nod of approval from Manitoba's Fire Program Manager.  Hanover council has issued a burning ban on all open fires.  Fire Program Manager Tom Mirus is impressed and calls the move, "very proactive".  He says you don't need to have a forest to have dangerously dry conditions.  At least 1 other municipality in the south has also issued a burning ban, and that's the R.M. of Morton in the southwest.  Meantime, Manitoba's fire crews found 1 new forest fire Wednesday.  It was near Owl Lake in the eastern region.  Crews quickly contained the blaze.  So far this summer, 131 forest fires have been recorded in the eastern region, that's around a quarter of all the forest fires in Manitoba this year.
