Green Valley School in Grunthal will be allowed to have fewer parking stalls than what is generally required by the municipality.

The Hanover School Division is planning an addition to the school in Grunthal which will include a new gymnasium and replace existing portable classrooms with permanent ones. Because of the addition, there is a change to the property's parking requirements.

hool has an agreement to use 25 parking stalls at the nearby Grunthal EMB Church during the school's business hours. Further to that, there is available parking at the arena, should it be necessary.

"I have no concerns," says Grunthal area Councillor Jim Funk. "There is lots of parking."

During the public hearing, New Bothwell area Councillor Travis Doerksen questioned what happens if those parking stalls at either the church or the arena are no longer able to be used by the school in the future. Planning Manager Jeremy Neufeld noted that whatever decision Council makes, will not change if those other parking stalls are suddenly unavailable in the future.

"We can't really make that a condition," adds Toews.

Meanwhile, the division also needed a variance for the expansion. Hanover Council approved varying the rear yard setback from 25 feet to 19 feet and the west side from 15 feet to 10 feet.
