A spokesperson for Clearview Co-op says there has been a positive development concerning the fuel shortage.

"We've got a little glimmer of hope today," says Operations Manager Geoff Dilts.

Dilts says Unifor continues to block access to the Winnipeg fuel terminals. As a result, Co-op fuel trucks can not access that gas. However, blockades have been removed in Regina, Saskatchewan and Carseland, Alberta. As a result, fuel from out west is now being shipped to Manitoba.

"We received some fuel (on Sunday), which we sent out to our gas bars in Ile des Chenes and Landmark (Sunday) night," explains Dilts. "We did receive another small shipment overnight and we plan to send some fuel out to our gas bars. Ste. Anne, Mitchell, La Broquerie, Lorette and Grunthal should have some gas (Monday) or (Tuesday)."

He notes once all of these stations are serving fuel again, it will probably be only the Steinbach stations that are without gasoline.

Dilts says the shipment from Regina is being distributed to all Co-ops across Eastern Saskatchewan and Manitoba. As a result, there is no way for Clearview Co-op to know when the fuel will be arriving or even how much will be coming. Dilts says it is also unclear if they will even receive fuel every day.

"Our hope is that we will get some every day," says Dilts. "But if something happens or if Unifor comes up with some new blockades somewhere, it's possible that we could see outages again."

And, Dilts says just because one of their gas stations has fuel today, that does not mean there will be fuel there on Tuesday or Wednesday.

Dilts says Clearview Co-op has kept its convenience stores and car washes open during the fuel outage.

"We want to be ready when fuel does show up so that we can just again have staff on hand and ready to provide fuel to our customers," he says.

Dilts says he is hopeful that once all the blockades have been removed, that within a day or two they will be back to regular scheduled service at all of their gas stations.

"We appreciate our loyal members and customers," says Dilts. "And we hope to get everybody back up to regular service as soon as we can."
