The Assiniboine Valley Producers committee may be getting the chance to meet with the Premier.  Chairperson Stan Cochrane says at issue is the ongoing flooding along the Assiniboine River between the Shellmouth Dam and Brandon.  The group contends operation of the dam led to approximately 19,000 acres of cropland going underwater this spring.  Cochrane says at issue is more than just flooded fields, but erosion to the riverbank and the deposition of foreign seed as well.  He stresses local growers are only looking to be treated fairly as compared to others in the province.  Cochrane notes indications from the province point to a meeting being scheduled for the middle of July.
