The company that will present the fireworks display in Steinbach on Canada Day is promising quite a spectacle. Candice Mitchell of Archangel Fireworks in Winnipeg says they bring something new to every show they do.

"We always have some tricks up our sleeve because we always want to keep the shows unique, we want to keep them fresh and we want to keep them different. We've got some new product that you guys are going to see in the air this year. We've got a few extra fun things planned, so I'm sure the show won't disappoint."

Mitchell says while the fireworks themselves have stayed much the same over the years, technology is changing how they are deployed.

"With technology, along with everything else in the world, there are some new systems, new equipment that we use. We have a unit called a Time Machine, which allows us to do things to music, wirelessly. So when we're doing a show that has large distances, it gives us the ability to do the show wirelessly. We're not using cables anymore. So we do our best to always stay on top of everything that is new to the industry and make sure to bring it in, make sure it's tested and make sure it works the way we need it to."

Mitchell adds the Time Machine enables them to time the detonations to within 1/100th of a second.

"When you think about that, it's actually fascinating about how much control we have over something in an industry where we actually don't get a dress rehearsal."

The fireworks display is scheduled for Monday at 10:45 p.m. at the Steinbach Soccer Park.
