Even as the harvest continues, Manitoba Agriculture has issued its final crop report of the year. It says in the past week, producers here in the southeast focused most of their attention on soybeans and the harvest of soybeans is 85 per cent complete with average yields of 35 bushels per acre.

Sunflower harvest is 65 per cent complete with yields around three thousand pounds per acre.

The grain corn harvest is 40% complete with yields averaging 125 bushels per acre. The report notes moisture levels are high and significant drying has been required.

The final crop report also notes that 75 per cent of the wheat harvested in the southeast graded number one.

100 per cent of winter wheat graded number 2, 95 per cent of oats graded number 2, while 95 per cent of the canola graded number one. 100 per cent of soybeans graded number two while the grain corn and sunflowers harvested so far are largely grading number two.

Due to the wet fall, the Agriculture Department notes winter wheat seeding was down 60 per cent and seeding of fall rye was down as much as 90 per cent.
