The City of Steinbach has put out an advisory to residents saying that there have been individuals knocking on people's doors in the past week claiming to be city employees and requesting to enter the home.

City Communications Coordinator Heather Chambers Ewen notes those are not city staff. She says they have received calls from concerned residents in the past week and she notes it is extremely rare where city employees would need to enter someone's home.

"If they are needing entrance they are probably going to have a city vehicle they'll have a brand on there, they are going to have a high visibility fluorescent vest on and they're going to have a city identification card that you can absolutely ask for," explains Chambers Ewen.

She says if the situation does not seem right, she suggests residents should ask for the worker's name, their department and then call City Hall.
