Grade 8 students in Steinbach are wrapping up their time in middle school, excited to start new adventures at the Steinbach Regional Secondary School.

Arianna participated in volleyball, badminton and track during her time at Stonybrook Middle School.

She says it’s been a great time at SMS.

“I’ve had some excellent teachers who have really made this a fun time. As much as I am excited for high school, I've really enjoyed my time here with all the extra activities and things that I've done.”

Arianna is eager to learn new things in high school, such as welding, hair styling, carpentry and culinary arts.

Grade 8 student Emily has enjoyed her time at Clearspring Middle School, especially the time on the volleyball court with her teammates, who are part of what she loves about the sport.

“The opportunities I get to have with people,” she says, reflecting on what makes volleyball so special to her. “And just being able to play the sport, I just love being able to have the opportunity to get a good dig or get a good hit.”

Emily plans to pursue volleyball in high school and beyond, looking to see how far she can go.

Julien is also near the end of Grade 8 and this young musician will never forget his musical experiences at Clearspring Middle School.

“The band and jazz band program, such a fun time for me. Our band director is such a nice guy, Mr. Janzen. One of the nicest people I’ve ever met.”

Julien plays the flute and guitar, and is eager to grow his skills at the SRSS.

He feels good about the musical opportunities that are available in school.

“There's multiple shows and concerts around the year. I've had some gigs where I'm playing guitar with my bands. It's a really fun time, I've had some great opportunities.”

While each of these students has different areas of interest, they all express a strong appreciation for their teachers and for the variety of learning opportunities.
