The final goal of the Steinbach Pistons 2020-21 season belongs to Rylan Bettens.

The Winnipeg product, who celebrated his 21st birthday on Tuesday, beat Selkirk netminder Cole Plowman at 4:47 of the third period as the Pistons defeated the Steelers 5-2 on Halloween night at the T.G. Smith Centre.

It was Steinbach's seventh and what turned out to be the last game of the 2020-21 season.

MJHL Commissioner Kevin Saurette confirmed on February 12th the decision to cancel the remainder of the season noting that after multiple discussions with Public Health, representatives of the provincial government, Facility Managers and Stakeholders, the MJHL Board of Governors determined that the resumption and completion of the season is not feasible due to current conditions.

The season was initially suspended back on November 12th when the entire province was placed under Code Red restrictions.

It's the second year in a row that the Pistons have seen their season brought to an untimely end.

The 2019-20 season was shutdown by Hockey Canada on Friday, March 13th because of COVID-19 concerns just days after Steinbach swept the Winnipeg Blues in round one of the playoffs.

The Pistons had to patiently wait 92 days before the announcement was made that the 2020-21 season was cancelled.
