On Friday morning at approximately 10:30 am, Steinbach RCMP responded to a suspicious vehicle in a field near Road 34 N in the RM of Hanover.

It was reported that the vehicle was stolen earlier in the week from a property near Landmark.

Police say they were contacted by someone who recognized the vehicle and saw it in the field.

“It was reported that there was a male, who was believed to be sleeping, in the driver's seat,” RCMP report. “Multiple RCMP officers attended and boxed in the vehicle. Officers also used spike belts in case the vehicle decided to flee.”

Police say the suspect driver awoke and began ramming the police vehicles.

“He then fled east on Hanover Road and crossed Highway 12 driving erratically and at a very high speed. At that time officers made the determination that it was too dangerous to pursue the vehicle, as they were concerned for other people/vehicles on the road.”

Officers continued patrols but did not locate the vehicle, which is described as a black Ford F250 crew cab.

If anyone has information on this, they are asked to call Steinbach RCMP.
