The dream of having a diagnostics lab and MRI unit in Niverville is still alive.

In August 2017, it was announced that a private group was looking to partner with the Town of Niverville and Niverville Heritage Holdings to bring an MRI to the Niverville Heritage Centre campus. More than a year later, Mayor Myron Dyck says they are still working toward that goal.

"It is still ongoing. Sometimes there are things that happen in a community that happen in months and years instead of in minutes and hours and so while some would refer to it as being on pause, we are in a bit of a waiting game but still with looking towards it and being able to see it one day come to Niverville."

In early October 2018, the R.M. of Richot announced it had been approached by a private group regarding the possibility of an MRI unit coming to Ile des Chenes. Dyck says there is no need for Niverville to be concerned about competition.

"Health needs including MRI are something that are on every municipality's agenda so no it doesn’t pose anything. They are working on it, all municipalities across the country would love to see expanded medical services to their RM’s so they are letting their residents know they are working on it."

Dyck says Niverville Town Council continues to work on increasing medical services in the community.
