Snowplows in Steinbach have been out since three o'clock this morning cleaning up from the latest snowfall.

Randy Reimer is Head of Public Works. He says crews started with clearing parking lots, sidewalks and main collector streets.

"We're just trying to keep collector streets open and traffic flowing best it can here till it all finishes," says Reimer. "Then we'll go back to doing a complete cleanup."

Reimer says because of this week's forecast, some streets that were cleared today, may need to be hit again on Tuesday and then again on Wednesday. He notes it will probably be Friday before everything is cleaned up.

"Some of the residential areas, people with smaller cars and tires that are maybe a little marginal are going to have a little trouble moving around," he says.

Reimer says on Friday, they blew snow from the ditch along Park Road West. The move was to prevent that road from plugging up in future snowstorms. Reimer says even with that work done, Park Road was still quite snow packed this morning and nearly impassable, except by 4x4.

Reimer suggests as of 10:30 am, nearly seven inches of snow fell. He asks motorists not to park on streets until they have been cleared.
