The bees are beginning to buzz as dandelions and other flowers start to bloom.

Tim Bartel part owner of Bartel Honey Farms 2017Tim Bartel from Bartel Honey Farms says the season is off to a good start. “The spring is relatively normal and the flowers are coming out, right now they’re looking really good.” Dandelions which are considered a nuisance to some mean good news for the bees. Bartel adds “The biggest thing about the dandelions is they’re the earliest crop the bees get.”

Planting flowers and fruit trees in your yard is also a great way to help the bees find food.

Bartel says the winter was relatively good all across Manitoba but places like B.C. suffered. Honey harvest is expected to start in roughly 10 weeks.
