Effective immediately, the Province will be opening up its testing facilities to all Manitobans exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19.

Premier Brian Pallister made the announcement today stressing that this is a crucial step to take before loosening public health measures and safely restarting the economy.

“Through good planning, Manitoba has been able to get ahead of COVID-19 and flatten the curve,” he says, “and we want to stay ahead of this virus and not chase it.”

As of today, Pallister says anyone with even mild symptoms including a cough, runny nose, sore throat, or fever, is able to be tested.

In order to facilitate this enhanced testing province-wide, a lab called Dynacare will begin COVID-19 testing alongside Manitoba’s primary public health lab, Cadham Provincial Lab. With these changes in place, Pallister expects that the number of Manitobans being tested daily will triple from 1,000 to 3,000 by the end of summer.
