Golfview Crescent and Eagle Place in Steinbach will become construction zones three weeks from now. Those streets have been chosen for this year's pavement renewal program. Phil Kalyta, the city's head engineer, explains the project.

"That work is scheduled to commence on June 10th. It's going to be pretty major work. We'll be replacing all the curb on one side of the street at a time. Once all that curb has been replaced and driveways reinstated, we will then move to the other side of the street and complete it."

Kalyta says residents will lose access to their driveways for about two weeks at a time while the curb work is being done. He adds when all the curb and gutter work has been completed, the asphalt will be removed and replaced with new pavement.

"We replace all the concrete work first and then the concrete work is kind of our guide for asphalt milling and asphalt placement. After the concrete is down and cured, then we get the asphalt milling machine or grinding machine in and then after that we bring in the asphalt and make it black. It should be six weeks and we'll be done that by the middle of July."

But Kalyta says that completion date is contingent on good weather conditions.
