Change is coming to the east end of Mitchell.

Council for the Rural Municipality of Hanover has approved a 36 residential lot and two commercial lot subdivision north of the existing Co-op. Of the residential lots, 18 are proposed to be rezoned for duplexes.

This development will connect Birchwood Lane with Evergreen Avenue. Reeve Stan Toews says council has yet to approve the rezoning.

"There was a little bit of concern and that was regards to parking," says Toews.

He notes the developer will need to provide two side-by-side parking spots for each duplex. According to Toews, this should remove a lot of the street parking.

Meanwhile, just south of that subdivision is where Clearview Co-op is constructing a new gas station. According to the Co-op, the new gas station is going up along Market Avenue, next to the existing one.
