École Communautaire Réal-Bérard in St Pierre-Jolys is getting ready to bid farewell to its Class of 2024.

Principal France Bouchard and valedictorian Josiah Friesen share their reflections on the year's challenges, triumphs, and the bright future ahead for these resilient students.

"It's been a year of growth and discovery," Principal Bouchard reflects warmly. "We've faced challenges head-on, adapted to new ways of learning, and embraced technology like never before. Our teachers and students showed resilience and strong commitment to education. We celebrated successes, learned from setbacks and built strong connections within our school community."

"We reflect on our achievements and look forward to the future with optimism. I am proud of how far we've come, and we are ready for what's next."

Josiah Friesen, brimming with enthusiasm, adds, "Being part of this class has been incredible. We've grown up together, with only a few newcomers joining us along the way. It's made us a tight-knit group."

Principal Bouchard highlights the return of cherished traditions amidst global uncertainties. "Activities like the trips to Riding Mountain and Calgary have been essential," he explains. "They're not just about fun; they're about fostering bonds and creating lasting memories."

Friesen, reminiscing on his fondest memories at Real Berard, recalls, "We've had so many great experiences—canoe trips, skiing adventures, and winning provincial championships. Through it all, we've had amazing support from our teachers and the entire community."

Looking ahead to their future endeavors, Principal Bouchard encourages the graduates, "I encourage them to embrace change and continue their journey of learning. They have the skills and resilience to succeed, and I have no doubt they'll make a positive impact wherever they go."

Friesen, preparing to embark on his studies at St. Boniface University reflects on his time at Real Berard. "This school has prepared me well. I'm excited to take what I've learned here and apply it to my studies and beyond."

To his fellow grads he says, "Remember the life we had here, the goodness that was here, because I always like to say, that in a dark room one candle can light up the whole room. And that bit of light can spread to all aspects of life and if you can take that with you, even just a little bit as you continue the next step of life, it could change everything."

Graduation ceremony for École Communautaire Réal-Bérard is taking place on June 24, 2024.
