With rain in the forecast, Canada Day celebrations may look different than what is scheduled.

Daniel Taillefer, City of Steinbach Recreation Coordinator says that a decision will be made on Monday morning whether the activities will still be going on in the Soccer Park scheduled for later that evening.

He explains that fireworks can be lit even with rain however, if there’s winds over 40 km/h, thunder, or lightning, it will be cancelled.

He advises people to keep an eye on their website, Facebook, or Instagram for updates and cancellations.

Taillefer says the celebration will be postponed if the weather turns bad, but that will be determined when the time comes.

Vita Canada Day Committee Member, Angela Boychuk says there may be changes and they are working on a plan.

See their Facebook page for updates.

Update:

The Vita Canada Committee says they have decided to move the firework show to Sunday, June 30 and Strongest Man Competition to Sunday at 1pm in hopes the weather will be better.
