Strong wind is blowing across the region and we can expect it to get stronger as the evening progresses.

Environment Canada has issued a Blowing Snow Advisory as it reports "poor visibility in blowing snow in portions of southern Saskatchewan and western Manitoba; beginning later this evening in the southern Red River Valley."

The northwest winds will reach speeds of 60 to 70 km/h and will combine with flurries to produce areas of reduced visibilities.

Some areas may see prolonged periods of blowing snow, while others may encounter abrupt changes in visibility as bands of flurries move through.

The forecasting service advises motorists to be prepared for conditions to change very quickly.

Thursday afternoon reports indication blowing snow on highways in the Southeast, there are some snow covered and ice covered sections.
