Firefighters in Hanover battled another suspicious fire Thursday in the municipality.

Hanover Fire Chief Paul Wiebe says the Kleefeld Fire Department was called out shortly after nine o'clock, to Road 28 East. Firefighters arrived to find an abandoned shed burning.

Wiebe says it was an old storage shed, approximately 900 square feet in size. It was located on an abandoned yard containing several other outbuildings. Crews were unable to save the structure.

(Firefighters were called to the scene around 9:00 am.)

"The cause is suspicious," says Wiebe. "At this point RCMP are investigating. If anybody saw anything or has any information they could contact RCMP."

Wiebe notes the shed was located close to the road and is hopeful that someone saw something suspicious while driving by.

According to Wiebe, there was not much inside the shed. He says it had really no monetary value, though it will have meant something to the owner.

This is the third suspicious fire this week in the RM of Hanover. The Kleefeld Fire Department also responded to a shed fire Sunday northwest of Mitchell, that appears to have been deliberately set. That same morning, a bridge was set on fire between Mitchell and Blumenort.
