The Agape House has announced that they received an award to provide bursaries to women looking to continue education and further their careers.

Lisa Fast of Agape House discusses the details of the bursary.

“This is a multi-organizational initiative that actually started a while back in, in 2001, and has only come into play now where the Women of Provencher Conference Committee awarded us with $1000 check to provide bursaries to women wishing to further their education or attend training in a chosen career field,” says Fast. “We're excited to announce that we're going to be providing bursaries to women wishing to continue education in our in our city here.”

This award will be able to help Agape House provide educational opportunities for those who may be struggling.

“We believe that education is the cornerstone of personal empowerment and vital progress,” Fast explains. “So, by providing women with access to educational opportunities, we're not trying to only change individual lives, we are trying to build healthier, more vibrant communities this way.”

Those who are interested in applying for a bursary can go to the Agape House website and fill out the registration form. They are hoping to go over applications later in the week and will choose the recipients.

“We're happy to answer any questions someone might have and see if we can support them in getting set up as well,” says Fast.

Those who are in a though situation or know someone who may be struggling, the Agape House has many resources including a 24/7 women’s abuse shelter, 24-hour crisis line, counselling and care, outreach program, and more.

“People can make sure to follow us regularly on social media. We're on Facebook and Instagram, and we're constantly posting informative posts, donation wish lists, our programs that are happening in the community,” Fast explains. “And if someone is needing help, we do have a crisis line that they can call or a text line, or even just going through our website, you can get a hold of us.”
