The month started with Manitoba's groundhog calling for an early spring. It would end up being a late, almost non-existent spring.

Hanover School Division announced both Assistant Superintendents would step down in 2018; Chris Gudziunas after 33 years and Rick Ardies 30 years.

$68,500 Split Evenly Between Glennis McGregor And ROC Eastman
The ROC Eastman 50/50 For Kids draw took place in February, generating sales of over $68,000. Glennis McGregor of Landmark had the winning ticket.

SCS Gym Ready For Action Once Again
The gym at Steinbach Christian High School went back into use earlier than expected. In mid-January, a ball hit a sprinkler head causing thousands of gallons of water to rain on the floor.

Traffic Lights Announced For Busy Steinbach Intersection
Manitoba's Infrastructure Minister made a stop in Steinbach in February to announce traffic control signals for Highway 52 at Industrial Road.

"This Was A Big Learning Situation For Us"
A student at Niverville Collegiate made a threat over social media towards the school. The post showed a picture of a firearm, with the caption, "schools gonna be fun tomorrow." Parents were outraged over the school division not notifying them sooner of the threat.

Ste. Anne Residents Gather For Gold Medal Hockey Game
Hockey players Bailey Bram and Jocelyn Larocque of Ste. Anne came home with silver medals from the Winter Games in South Korea.

Also in February, Hanover council made the decision to repave a portion of Pansy Road.

Generosity Displayed In Southeast
Stats Canada named Blumenort most generous community in the southeast, and Steinbach the most generous city in Canada.

Steinbach Mayor Brings Home Crokicurl Cup
And Steinbach Mayor Chris Goertzen took home the Crokicurl Cup after beating two other mayors in a life-sized version of crokinole played on ice.
