Bloomfield notes there was only a small modification to the proposed budget. "The only changes would be 2.5 teachers would be reallocated throughout the division, basically to address the increasing enrolment that's expected. $45,000 to a support position in our finance department to assist with the technology of managing the H-R requirements of staff, and an additional $55,000 for special needs funding."

Bloomfield notes since this is the first year of the new formula used by the provincial government towards special needs funding, they are being cautious. "We are not sure how the new formula is going to play out in the schools."

The total approved budget for the Seine River School Division for the upcoming school year is $53,300,000, which is an increase of 3.8%. The provincial funding increase is 1.9%.

Since the 2004/2005 school year, SRSD has seen an enrolment increase of 965 students.
