2nd Scooter Parade in Ste. Anne a success with the community's seniors

Villa Youville hosted their second-ever Scooter Parade on Main Street in Ste. Anne this afternoon. 

Joanne Comeault, activity coordinator with Villa Youville, says the parade is something she started last year with the Villa Youville residents. 

“In my role here as Activity Coordinator, I do a lot of research on traditional and non-traditional activities and programs for the residents. I have a lot of new ideas and new projects, and this parade was one of them.” 

When she asked around to see if any residents would be interested in the parade, there seemed to be a lot that liked the idea. 

“So here we are a year later it's our second annual scooter parade.” 

The parade started in the East end of town, they made their way West to the police station, and then made their way back up to the Villa Youville. 

They had around 25 scooters and bikes which the residents drove themselves. They also had Ste. Anne Police peace officers and cadets that walked and drove alongside the residents. 

“We also had a golf cart with residents on, and a small float with more residents throwing candy to the crowd, and we had music this year to get everybody pumping.” 

Comeault says the residents were super excited when they heard the scooter parades were on again this year. 

“They talked to me about it months before I even brought it up, so it's definitely something that's going to stick around. I hope that not only the town appreciated it, but the residents appreciated it.” 

She says everybody had a great time. 

“We've had nothing but amazing feedback from it.” 

And notes the community has been very supportive. 

“We asked the Ste. Anne police to help us out, no questions asked they were 100 per cent in. We've asked community groups to be our special guests, they were excited for it. Everybody just comes together as a team here at the Villa with all of our staff working together with the community.”
