The Hanover School Division is changing the kindergarten program in one of its schools. Niverville Elementary has been given the green light to run full day, every other day kindergarten classes next school year. Superintendent Ken Klassen says this is a first for Hanover. He notes one of the benefits is cutting the amount of time students will spend on the bus. Instead of a kindergarten student making a long trip to school and home on the bus each day, that student will now ride the bus every other day. There will also be minimal impact for teaching staff as full time teachers will have a new group of students every other day while half time teachers come in on alternating days. This 1 year pilot was approved following a survey which was sent out ot all the parents of next year's kindergarten class. Klassen reports there was very strong support for trying this so the board has agreed to see if this model will work.
