A local committee is helping some graduating students at Steinbach Regional Secondary School to be able to attend grad festivities. Teacher Ashley Gingras says some grads have been telling guidance councillors that they cannot afford to attend because it is so expensive. She adds that prompted them to set up a program to make grad affordable for these students.

"It's called Cinderella's Wardrobe. It's basically a free shop that grads can come to and get a dress for either grad farewell or their graduation. And, there's no cost attached to it. There are 130 dresses donated which is amazing."

Gingras says people were asked for donations of gently used or new formal dresses.

"It could be from grad from last year or people went to a wedding and they have some formal or semi-formal dresses that they no longer need and we even have some that still have tags on them, they were never worn. I had one mom from a grade this year, she called specifically and said, I bought a dress just for this program, one for my daughter and then one for Cinderella's Wardrobe."

Gingras says they are grateful for the support of people in the community.

Students who need a dress can go to the free shop at the school this Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, between 4:30 and 7:00 p.m.
