A new initiative in Niverville has evolved involving all of the town’s churches collaborating with long-time charity organization Helping Hands.

Facilitator for Love Niverville Roger Armbruster

“’Love Niverville’ is a community project,” explains Facilitator Roger Armbruster, “initiated through the Maranatha Niverville Congregation where a Manitoba businessman wanted to invest in the people who have been adversely affected by the COVID-19 crisis.”

Armbruster shares how the anonymous businessman offered $10,000 to kick start the project with a desire to invest further as the need arises.

The project seeks to distribute “care packages” containing food and the contact information of members of the church for those seeking additional support in not only Niverville, but New Bothwell, Otterburne, and Ste Agathe as well.

“They would be able to request prayer, a listening ear, someone to talk to,” says Armbruster, “and if people don’t want that sort of support, they can let us know.”

Care packages will be made available twice a month with the first distribution date occurring on Thursday, May 14th.  Those looking to make requests for food hampers can find the contact information for each church's representative here.

“We’re not forcing anything on anyone,” says Armbruster, “we’ll continue to give care packages to anyone who has a need, but we are having this spiritual and emotional component in addition to the physical need for food.”

Those that would like to make donations can do so through either Maranatha Niverville or Niverville Helping Hands.
