The Ste. Anne Aces season is over.

Glenn Weiss scored with 3:52 remaining to lift the Lac du Bonnet Blues past the Carillon Senior Hockey League champions 3-2 Saturday night at MTS Iceplex in Hockey Manitoba's Provincial Senior “A” semifinal.

Brock Bram and Dustin Pearson did the goal scoring for Ste. Anne.

“We missed about five or six opportunities in the second period,” said Aces coach Kevin Lansard. “We hit three crossbars in the first. It just wasn't meant to be.”

“I thought we should have been up four or five after the second. I thought they were a good enough team that if we let them hang around the way we did, they were just waiting for their opportunity, and they scored on it. Now we're out.”

Lac du Bonnet goaltender Julian Guimond made 34 saves while Aces netminder Jesse Charriere faced 27 shots.

Ryan Kindret had the other two goals for the Blues who will meet the Killarney Shamrocks in the championship game Sunday (2:30 pm.) at MTS Iceplex.

The Tiger Hills Hockey League champions defeated the South Eastern Manitoba Hockey League champion Carman Beavers 5-2 in the other semifinal.

“Everything was exciting,” replied Lansard when asked to comment on the provincials. “Everything was new. Everybody was enjoying themselves. The community got behind it. The fans were showing up and it just makes you want to go even further. We really felt we had a team that could take it all and I just hope we have an opportunity to come back again.”
