Frost arrives in southeast, but forecast shows return to summer warmth
Some people in the Southeast woke up to frost on Sunday morning as temperatures dipped close to freezing. Environment Canada reported the temperature in Steinbach dropped to +1 C between 5 a.m. and 7 a.m. The Manitoba Agriculture weather network showed the coldest spot in the southeast was Marchand, where the temperature fell just below 0 C at 8 a.m. Meanwhile, the Kleefeld station recorded +2 C around the same time. With many gardens still producing, residents may want to check plants for frost damage. The good news is that the forecast for the week is looking much warmer, with no more frost expected. Today will be mainly sunny with a high of 19. Overnight, the temperature will dip to 7 under partly cloudy skies. On Monday, the high is expected to reach 23 with a humidex of 25, followed by a clear night at 8. Tuesday and Wednesday both bring sunshine and highs of 25. Thursday calls for showers and a high of 25, with rain continuing into the evening and a low of 14. Friday will be cloudy with a chance of showers and a high of 27, while Saturday remains cloudy with a 60 per cent chance of showers and a high near 24.
