Mackenzie Zacharias, Karlee Burgess, Emily Zacharias and Lauren Lenentine are Canadian champions.

The Altona Curling Club foursome defeated Abby Marks of Alberta 10-3 in the gold medal game at the 2020 Canadian Junior Women’s Curling Championship Sunday morning in Langley, B.C.

Zacharias got a deuce in the hammer in the first end and led 3-2 at the fifth end break.

After the two teams exchanged single points in the sixth and seventh ends, the two-time Manitoba champion took total control of the final thanks to a last rock angle-takeout for four in the eighth end and a steal of two more in the ninth.

Zacharias, Burgess, Zacharias and Lenentine went undefeated in Langley winning 11 straight game en route to capturing our province’s first Canadian Junior Women’s title since Kaitlyn Lawes won back-to-back championships in 2008 & 2009.

They’ll now represent Canada at the 2020 World’s which begins February 15th in Krasnoyarsk, Russia.

The Altona Curling Club foursome will arrive back in Manitoba Monday at 2:14 p.m. at the Winnipeg James Armstrong Richardson International Airport.
