Western Canada's wheat and durum crop is projected to reach 23.6 million tonnes in the 2006-07 crop year.  The barley crop is projected  to be 10.3 million tonnes.  Bruce Burnett is the Canadian Wheat Board's director of weather and crop surveillance.  He notes the wheat figure is significantly above the 5 year average, but down 1.2 million tonnes compared to 2005.
Burnett notes average wheat yields will also be down compared to last year.
Wheat yields are expected to range from 32 to 38 bushels per acre, durum 29 to 36, and barley 53 to 60.  As for world wheat production, levels are expected to decrease 20 million tonnes to just over 601 million.
