The Tory Agriculture Critic is concerned over a NDP plan to use CCIA tags as a means to track cattle sales in the province.  Ralph Eichler says the Doer Government will use the tags to ensure collection of its $2.00 per head check-off to support slaughter capacity only occurs once per animal.  He stresses, based on his information, there's been no consultation with the CCIA to use the tags in that manner.  Eichler says by using the tags as a tracking system, it would give the government means to determine if an animal was sold out of province.  He notes that particular province or auction house is then put in the awkward position of collecting the levy or not.
