The city of Steinbach is planning to spend $8.6 million on capital projects next year.
Executive Policy Chair David Banman notes that is more than double the average amount.  The major projects include a new firehall and further expansion of the industrial park west of Highway #12.  Deputy Mayor Dwight Reimer says there's a shortage of commercial and industrial space in the city and council must act to meet the demand.  Council is in the process of revising its 10 year capital plan to reflect the ambitious program for next year.
