Two Steinbach Pistons are Manitoba Junior Hockey League All-Stars. Forward Quinton Pepper was named to the MJHL's 1st All-Star Team and goaltender Will Hambley is a 2nd Team All-Star. The Pistons, who have clinched first place in MJHL's East Division, will face the Winnipeg Blues at the RINK Training Centre on Saturday; host the Winnipeg Freeze on Sunday and then play their regular season finale on March 18th against the Blues at the T.G. Smith Centre.

 

The Eastman Selects season is on the line tonight (8:45 p.m.) when they face the Winnipeg Wild at Bell MTS Iceplex. The Wild lead the City U17 AAA Hockey League's best-of-five semifinal two games to one after beating the Selects 6-5 in overtime Tuesday night.

 

Nolan Ritchie scored 71 seconds into overtime to lift the Brandon Wheat Kings past the Calgary Hitmen 2-1 at Westoba Place. Rylen Roersma had the lone Wheat Kings goal in regulation. Vincent Iorio assisted on both goals. Brandon netminder Carson Bjarnason made 32 saves.

 

Canada’s Wheelchair Curling team has qualified for the semifinals at the 2022 Winter Paralympic Games in Beijing. Mark Ideson, Ina Forrest, Jon Thurston and Manitoban Dennis Thiessen defeated Norway 7-6 and finished the round robin with a 7-3 record. Canada’s Paralympic Hockey Team will face Korea (10:05 p.m.) in the semifinals. Canada defeated Korea 6-0 in its final preliminary round game. Canadian athletes have won 16 medals in Beijing including seven gold, two silver and seven bronze.
