The community is rallying around a man from Steinbach who needs life-changing surgery in Germany.

An accident in august of 2020 left Trevor Stelmack with three crushed vertebrae in his neck, and he needs disc replacement surgery.

Initially, they thought his symptoms were all concussion-related, as he did suffer a severe concussion, but as time went on and more investigation was done, it was revealed that he also crushed his neck during the injury.

His condition cannot improve without surgery, and until then it will continue to progressively get worse.

Rebekah, his wife, says their fundraising dinner quickly sold out, showing that they are surrounded by many caring people.

“It has been a very difficult few years, it’s been a dark time for Trev. And to have people just come up and want to help for no other reason than they’re just good, and even in this world in all the trials and tribulations we have right now, people are still good.”

Over $21,000 has been donated toward the goal of $80,000 that is needed for surgery and travel expenses.

She says their Go Fund Me account is getting many anonymous donations as well as contributions from family and friends.

“People we know through our children have just rallied around us and said, ‘How can we help?’ And that’s amazing. They don’t owe us anything, and yet here they are, showing up on our front step to say, ‘we love you and we’re going to support you through this.’”

Although the fundraising dinner is sold out, support tickets can still be purchased for $35. For more information, contact Rebekah at 204-381-0994. She welcomes words of support, encouragement, and prayers.

Donations can also be made through their Go Fund Me page.
