Steinbach Public Works has changed its plan and will not do a city-wide plowing of streets following the latest snowfall. Department head Randy Reimer says we did not get as much snow as forecast and it's a higher priority to remove large snow banks to improve visibility.

"We spent Tuesday cleaning up a lot of our collector streets and we shifted Wednesday and for the rest of this week to try and remove snow off boulevards on some of the streets to get rid of some of those high piles that are giving people problems when they're trying to manoeuvre around the city."

He notes streets are slippery and they will put down some extra salt to deal with that. Reimer adds crews may be forced to change priorities again in the coming days.

"It could be interesting again this weekend. They're forecasting some very mild temperatures with possibly some rain so we might be shifting to drainage issues again this weekend."

Crews had to deal with several large puddles during a January thaw two weeks ago.
