Executive Director of the Steinbach Chamber of Commerce says the federal budget is good news for small businesses.

A tax reduction in the small business tax rate from 11% to 9%, to be implemented over the next several years was announced.  Linda Peters notes the reduction in tax will give small businesses the ability to plan better.

"They know the direction that it's going and when they can free up a little bit of cash.  Generally when a small business can put a little bit more money aside they will tend to reinvest that in their business.  That means more jobs for local people, it means more options as far as products and services for local people.  So that generally is good news for consumers.  It's good news for the economy.  It's good news for everybody."

Peters adds about 90% of the Steinbach Chamber of Commerce members are small business who will be able to benefit from the new federal budget announcement.
