Council for the RM of Hanover is being proactive.  With support from the Hanover Fire Chiefs Association, council is announcing a ban on all open fires in the municipality, effective immediately.  Association president Werner Dueck says the ground is much too crisp and dry and Tuesday's rain was not enough to change the situation.  He says it was the late-80s when the last burning ban was in effect in Hanover.  In cases where burning is urgently required a permit must be obtained from the municipal office before any fires will be allowed.  Anyone found guilty of lighting an open fire without a permit will be fined.
