A small fire started on the tracks a few miles north of La Broquerie just before 1pm today.

La Broquerie’s Deputy Fire Chief, J.C. Normandeau explains the situation. “We had a few railway ties in between the tracks on fire, we were called by a passerby so we contacted CN and they asked us to go put it out.” He adds, only a few firefighters were needed to quickly get the flames under control.

Normandeau states the fire was likely sparked by a train passing by. He says the fire did no damage to the railroad nor the surrounding bushes and was out in a matter of minutes.
