Hub game recap

The Steinbach Pistons surrendered three power-play goals en route to a 4-1 loss to the Waywayseecappo Wolverines on Saturday night.

In the opening minutes of the game, the penalty kill was put to work but couldn't kill off the man advantage as the Wolverines were able to break into the zone and fire home a wrister to make it 1-0.

Less than five minutes later, the Pistons found themselves in a deeper hole as Waywayseecappo buried another to make it a 2-0 game.

Steinbach managed to get on the board in the second period as 20-year-old Travis Hensrud scored his 9th of the year to cut the lead to 2-1. Ian Amsbaugh and Warren Clark were credited with the assists.

Hensrud's goal extended his point streak to 6 games, where he has 4 goals and 7 assists for 11 points. He's only been held pointless in one of the twelve games played this year.

Shots were heavily in favor of the Pistons in the middle period, 14-5 but the score held 2-1 for the Wolverines.

Another penalty early in the third gave Waywayseecappo an opportunity they didn't squander as they scored their second man-advantage goal of the game to restore their two-goal lead, 3-1.

Yet another power-play goal sealed the win for Waywayseecappo as they scored again to make it 4-1.

Steinbach's power play was 0-5 on the night while the penalty kill took a hit going 3-6.

Steinbach outshot Waywayseecappo 35-20.

Steinbach's next game is at the TG Smith Centre on Friday night as they welcome in the Winnipeg Blues.
