The Pistons wrapped up their games in the MJHL Showcase Weekend Saturday afternoon at the MTS Iceplex against the OCN Blizzard. Brock Genyk led the way offensively with 2 goals, leading the team to a 3-2 victory.

Mike Collins got on the board first for the Blizzard 4:00 into the game. At the 9:52 mark Brock Genyk scored to tie the game, assisted by Brant Henry Norton and Trent Genyk. 55 seconds into the 2nd period Genyk scored his second to make it 2-1, assisted by Norton and Trent Genyk. With 9:56 left in the 3rd Collins scored his second of the game to tie the game at 2. 2:26 after that, Matthew Francyzk scored the eventual game winner for Steinbach on the powerplay, assisted by Brett Fargher. Mitch Backhouse picked up the win in the Pistons net, stopping 28 of 30 shots. Matthew Krahn made 30 saves on 33 shots for the Blizzard.

The Pistons lost their first game at the showcase, dropping a 4-2 decision to the Winnipeg Blues.

The Pistons play next on Wednesday, October 12th when the Waywayseecappo Woverines visit Steinbach.

Meanwhile, The Steinbach Pistons are pleased to announce the acquisition of Defenceman Matthew Franczyk (18) from the Winnipeg Blues in exchange for Forward Tyson Price (20). 

Matthew is a late release from the Portland Winterhawks of the Western Hockey League.  He is a stay at home defenceman that will bring size and a physical presence to our back end.  The pistons would like to thank Tyson Price for his time with the Pistons and wish him well with the Blues. 

In another move, the Pistons got down to two goaltenders trading 19 year old James Davison to the Waywayseecappo Wolverines in exchange for future considerations.  The Pistons wish James well with the Wolverines.
